As the independence debate heats up I find myself thinking a great deal about Scotland, “home”. Traditional Scots ideology is misaligned with the post-‘79 rightward pull: turbo-capitalism, privatisation, a shrinking welfare State. Scots cling to older social democratic values & feel perhaps it’s not they who are leaving Britain, but Britain that has left them.
