In France I hoped for respite from the treadmill, but opting out isn’t straightforward. The system claims you, taxes and bills have to be paid, the treadmill is everywhere. Futile to protest that 80+% of bills is simply a connection charge. Dreams are placed on shelves, or carefully tucked away in drawers, awaiting easier times.
