No longer regulated by the EU, Johnson’s government started pumping untreated sewage into the sea even in popular bathing areas threatening marine life, human health and the fishing industry.  In 2019, no river in England passed ecological and chemical water quality tests. This year’s drought will have exacerbated the problem.
