Today’s topic is Where The Wild Things Are, whose hero, Max, has never grown old or stale. Sendak compared his work to Schubert’s songs: a modest form in which he expresses himself “entirely”. “As people grow older they tend to forget what it was like to be a kid,”  Sendak says. “Childhood is a period of great torment.”
